South Asia Security Program

SouthAsiaLNCV has established a South Asia working group, open to Indians, Pakistanis and international experts, to source way for creating nuclear confidence and non-proliferation culture in South Asia. Its primary aim is to investigate CTR like approach, nuclear CBMs and joint practices to enhance the safety of the nuclear complexes in India and Pakistan, their export control mechanism and to decrease the dangers of proliferation of nuclear material equipment and sensitive knowledge.

In particular the LNCV has prepared specific case studies, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, aimed to deal with the most relevant issues of concern, as the minimal nuclear deterrence posture, the Us-India deal and the energy geopolitics in the region.

This program is also analysing the new geopolitical and geostrategic trends in the enlarged region, with a specific emphasis on cooperative security programs and on the ‘energy factor’.
